The Christmas tree has its roots in Germany. Over the centuries it has evolved into one of the most popular symbols of the Christmas holiday season. Christmas trees come in a variety of sizes and types. Evergreen and fir trees are used the most; but artificial trees made of tinsel, plastic and everything in between have taken the Christmas tree to new levels.
The Bargello Needlepoint Christmas Trees Ornament will hopefully stir memories of past holiday times enjoyed with family and friends. Beginners and experienced stitchers will find this Bargello needlepoint project quick and easy to make. The finished design is approximately 4” square.
Color Scheme…
I used a green monochromatic color scheme with DMC colors: 699, 700, 701, and a light medium green. The tree trunks were stitched in Silk’n Colors Chocolate Caramel, and for the stars I used Fyre Werks Metallic Ribbon #F5.
For adequate coverage, stitch with 5-6 strands of cotton or an appropriate number of other types of threads. When stitching with more than one strand, strip or separate the strands so they lay side by side and use a laying tool to place them on the canvas.
The Bargello Needlepoint Christmas Trees Ornament is designed for 18-mesh canvas but can be stitched on 14-mesh or congress cloth. The original design size is diamond-shaped; but it can be adjusted to fit your preferred shape.
