It has been said that the Christmas gift-giving tradition originated with the three wise men that came to find the Christ child at the first Christmas. To honor Christ’s birth they brought gold, myrrh and frankincense—gifts fit for a king. Since that time, the tradition of exchanging Christmas gifts has become one of the main highlights of the holiday season. Gifts are wrapped to heighten the receiver’s anticipation. Colorful wrapping paper, ribbons and bows adorn packages in all shapes and sizes.
The Bargello Needlepoint Christmas Gift Ornament Pattern uses two shades of red to depict a foil ribbon pattern used in making popular Christmas gift wrap.
Color Scheme…
For shading and color excitement I used two shades of Spendor red: #820 and #822. The ribbon is stitched in Neon Rays Gold #N81 and a Krenik #12 gold braid.
For adequate coverage, stitch with 5-6 strands of cotton or an appropriate number of other types of threads. When stitching with more than one strand, strip or separate the strands so they lay side by side and use a laying tool to place them on the canvas.
The Bargello Needlepoint Christmas Gift Ornament Pattern is designed for 18-mesh canvas but can be stitched on 14-mesh or congress cloth. The original design size is diamond-shaped; but if you’d like a smaller ornament or a different shape, you can adjust it accordingly.

Ohhh, the pattern looks very doable and I love the colored finished picture. I will have to get busy and try this. I know some people who lost most everything including Christmas stuff in the floods and tornadoes last year and made some ornaments last year. This year, hopefully, I can make lots of these stunning ornaments in various colors.
I came via Nuts for Needlepoint and will check out a lot of posts and links in the near future.
Thanks in advance!
