Light Up Your Night with a Bargello Needlepoint Nightlight

From start to finish, it can be stitched and assembled in less than eight hours–depending on how fast you stitch and the Bargello pattern you select. All you need is the self-adhesive fully assembled nightlight kit from Hollywood Lights and a completed Bargello canvas.

The nightlight kit includes a bulb, functioning night light with on/off switch and pre-glued shade. The packaging label acts as the pattern. Just trace it onto 14 or 18-mesh needlepoint canvas, choose your color scheme and design and stitch away. Add your choice of decorative trim and bling for the ultimate in good taste and elegance.

To make your own Bargello needlepoint nightlight, here are the things you will need:

— Self-Adhesive Nightlight (purchase the nightlight kit from Michaels, Hobby Lobby or other craft store)

— 9” square piece of 14 or 18-mesh needlepoint canvas

— 2 sets of 9″ stretcher bars, masking tape and brass tacks

— Assorted cotton or silk threads

— 18” decorative ribbon or trim

— Tapestry needle 20 – 24 (depending on canvas mesh used)

— Hot Glue Gun

Instructions

This serves as the outer seam. Retrace the design 1/4 inch inside the lines on all sides for stitching area.
  2. Choose a Bargello design and color scheme according to taste and décor. Assemble the stretcher bars, tape all sides of the canvas and stitch the design.
  3. Carefully hand press finished needlepoint onto the nightlight, smoothing as you go. Trim excess canvas at top and bottom edges of shade.
  4. Glue decorative ribbon or trim around side edges of shade first, and then the top and bottom of shade making sure to leave 1/2 to 3/4  inches on each side
  5. Add extra glue to inside side edges of nightlight and wrap trim around the edges to seal.
  6. Plug in your nightlight for all to admire.
