    The article at All About Needlepoint tells you how to make a Bargello template. Basically, you trace a shape from a coloring book or some other source and then transfer it to the canvas by placing it underneath your blank needlepoint canvas and then drawing it on the canvas.

    The All About Needlepoint article details how to do it, and it really works. I use this method a lot to make unique Bargello designs.
