Quilters are famous for using templates to cut out fabric shapes for a quilting project. Templates keep the measurements exact so that the pieces join precisely as designed. The same can be said when using a template with Bargello needlepoint. It helps the needlepointer create a unique design starting with an outline and then filling it with stitching.
All About Needlepoint has a great article about how to use templates to make Bargello needlepoint designs to fit any type of project you wish to create. It gives detailed instructions on how to get started and the best ways to use Bargello templates. Check out the article to increase your knowledge of Bargello needlepoint and how to design your own unique projects.

Hello Garnett,
The article at All About Needlepoint tells you how to make a Bargello template. Basically, you trace a shape from a coloring book or some other source and then transfer it to the canvas by placing it underneath your blank needlepoint canvas and then drawing it on the canvas.
The All About Needlepoint article details how to do it, and it really works. I use this method a lot to make unique Bargello designs.
How? How do I make templates?
