It is formed by alternating long (over four canvas threads) and short (over two canvas threads) stitches.

After the first row has been worked, stitch all subsequent rows by placing long stitches over/under short ones, and short stitches over/under long ones.

When working with two colors in the same row, fill in a row of long stitches and follow with the short stitches in between; Then proceed to the next row.
