It was a warm and sunny day, and just after coming home from church I got an urge to stitch some Bargello needlepoint. I put dinner in the oven, inserted my favorite Sci-Fi DVD, sat in my easy chair and started to relax. Within a few minutes, I knew that relaxation would not be complete without finding a quick and simple Bargello project to stitch for the afternoon.
Since I keep a stash of fast and easy pre-finished items to use for Bargello needlepoint, I selected a red wallet. At last I was going to stitch something to keep for myself. I remember when I purchased the wallet. I thought it would be a cool item to carry during the summer, and since I love the color red in all its shades and tones, I just couldn’t resist.
A design was chosen, silk threads and canvas were assembled and I started stitching—around 1:00 PM. By 4:00 PM the stitching was done and five minutes later the wallet was completed. I celebrated over dinner, transferred my credit cards, driver’s license, pictures of my grandchildren and other vital necessities and prepared to wow the world with my new stash treasure!
It felt good to make something for myself for a change. There was still enough time to enjoy the rest of the afternoon by spending some of that beautiful day in the fresh open air showcasing my new Sunday afternoon wallet.
