Located in a prestigious area of Wilmington, Delaware, The Jolly Needlewoman is a quaint needlepoint shop with colonial American charm. The shop looks like a home that was converted into a store; but when you enter it there are small intimate rooms with canvases, needlepoint accessories, and threads and fibers.
Having lived in the Wilmington area for several years, I loved spending some time each week visiting the shop. One designer from the Jolly Needlewoman hand-painted a picture of my home on needlepoint canvas, and I have stitched several Bargello needlepoint pillows from original charts made by deft shop designers whose embroideries were exquisite. My favorite design is this needlepoint pillow that has previously been featured on this site.
The Jolly Needlewoman is located at 5810 Kennett Pike Wilmington, DE 19807, just a few miles down the road from the famous Winterthur Museum & Gardens. For local needlepoint designs with a historical flair, contact The Jolly Needlewoman at (302) 658-9585.
