People are so stressed out these days with anxiety about the economy and life in general; and because money is tight and times are hard, costly hobbies are being placed on the back burner. But, this is not the case with needlepoint—especially Bargello.
Most needlepoint and embroidery stitchers have a nest egg—a stash of threads, canvas, stitching gadgets, painted designs and charts—most likely enough to last for a lifetime without having to repeat a design! And best of all, it has already been paid for and is just waiting to be dumped out, sorted and used. No need to buy more if you’re strapped for cash.
As far as stress therapy goes, studies have shown that engaging in a hobby on a regular basis is therapeutic and helps to reduce anxiety, stress and burnout (as long as you don’t become overly obsessed with completing everything at once or being perfect). When it comes to Bargello needlepoint, the soothing rhythm of stitching releases endorphins (natural painkillers) that have a calming effect on the nerves. The quickness with which you can complete a project leads to a sense of accomplishment and completeness.
But an added bonus to Bargello needlepoint stress therapy is the fellowship of a community of like-minded people who delight in sharing and encouraging you to keep stitching for the sheer enjoyment of it all. The result of all this is that you don’t need any medication…just a cup of tea or your favorite beverage and a little classical music to make everything right with your world.
Ahhhh…life is good!

You are on to my secret!!! Working the needle has long been my stress relief of choice. No sleep inducing and $$$ alcohol, no fat or calories, and I get something cool out if it to keep or gift.
You rock girl!
